新渡戸稲造記念庭園 / Nitobe Memorial Garden

新渡戸稲造記念庭園は1933年にバンクーバーのヴィクトリアで客死した新渡戸稲造博士を記念して作られた庭園であり、「願はくは　われ太平洋の　橋とならん」と尽力していた。またこの庭園は造園家、森歓之助の1950年代に作られた最後の作品であり、施工も京都から職人を呼んでいた。このよく手入れされた庭園の隣には北米でもトップクラスの茶室がある。石灯篭は博士の亡くなられた日の同じ時間にだけ点灯される。
Nitobe Memorial Garden honours Inazo Nitobe who died in Victoria, Vancouver in 1933　and his goal was to "become a bridge across the Pacific". The garden was the last work of Kannosuke Mori designed in 1950s, who is a prominent garden designer, and also the constructor was from Kyoto. The well-maintained stroll garden is besides one of the top authentic Japanese tea house in North America. The stone lantern was fulfilled fire only at the time .when he died.
