ブロックトン・ポイント灯台 / Brockton Point Lighthouse (1898)

ブロックトン・ポイント灯台は今も夜9時から点灯していたが（もともとは6時から点灯されていた）、嵐警報としての機能は国際的なラジオ無線の導入によって1951年に廃止された。灯台自体は1898年に作られたものである。当時の灯台番はとても忙しく、9時の「時砲」のあと霧警報を鳴らし、ランタンに火をともしながら180ｍ以上はなれたブロックトン・ライトまで嵐警報の旗を揚げに行かなければならなかった。
Brockton Point lighthouse continues to blink from 9pm customary (the light used to fire from 6pm for small ships), but its storm warning function was eliminated in 1951 with universal adaption of radio. The lighthouse was built in 1898. At the time, the lighthouse keeper was busy: he had to fire Nine O’Clock Gun, run the foghorn and keep lanterns lit, plus hoist signals onto the storm warning mast 200 yards off the Brockton Light.
