ランバーマンズ・アーチ / Lumberman's Arch (1912/1952)

1952年に建てられたランバーマンズ・アーチには、もともとバラッド湾で後にバンクーバーになる最初のスタンプ材木場があった。実は現在のアーチはオリジナルのものではない。もとのオリジナルは1912年にペンダーとホーマーにDuke of Connaughtを歓迎するために作られた。そしてそれ以前にはSquamishのかなり大きな村があり、杉材で作られた柱と高床、カーテンで各スペースが仕切られた60ｍ×18ｍものサイズの建物があった。しかし天然痘の流行のため村民は強制退去され、村は燃やされてしまった。
At Lumberman’s Arch, which was erected in 1952, there used to be Stamps Mill which was the first mill besides Burrard Inlet in former Vancouver. Actually the current Lumberman’s Arch is not the original one. The original one was made in 1912 at Pender and Homer, for a visit by Duke of Connaught. And before that, there was a large Squamish village which was consisted of big buildings such as 200 feet long (60m) by 60 long wide (18m)and the cedar poles sustained the slabs from the ground and the interior space was divided by curtain. But the village was burned due to smallpox epidemic and forced them to move out.
