熊に気をつけろ / Beaware of Bear

スタンレーパークには、水族館より前にもともと1898年にできた動物園が最初にあって、それがこの公園でのメインのアトラクションで多くの人で賑わっていた。最初の熊は近くの森で捕まえられ、檻は無くただ鎖につながれているだけだった。しかし1956年に水族館ができると人気はそちらに移ってしまい、1997年には飼育環境の悪化から閉鎖されてしまった。その後、白熊だけ高齢のため他の動物園に移ることができず動物園に残ることになった。まだその熊の檻と注意書きが残っており、動物園があったことを知らない人にはとても奇妙な場所になっている。
In Stanley Park, the zoo (1898-1997), that was the one of the main attraction and crowded with many visitors, had been there since 1898. The first bear which was caught in a forest was just chained without any cage. However, the aquarium which opened in 1956 took people’s popularity away from the zoo, and the zoo was closed due to hygienic environmental problem in 1997. After that, only the polar bear remained in the zoo used to be due to his too old age to move to other. The board of caution of bear, it still remains on the column in the cage, is too weird for visitor who don't know the zoo was there.
